After reaching the quarter-finals of the League 2 championship last year,
the C Division boys started the season strong. Under the watchful eyes of
coach Hairil Amin, they achieved a series of three wins in a row. This put
them at the top of their league and promoted them to League 1 where
they got the opportunity to play against top teams in Singapore. The
achievement of the C Division boys made history as this is the first time
that the school progressed to League 1.
In the League 1 championship, the boys faced off against traditional
powerhouses like Meridian Secondary and St Patrick’s School. While
they did not make it to the quarter-finals, having the opportunity to play
against such tough opponents helped the boys gain valuable experience
and sharpen their skills for next season. The boys now have a better idea
of what they are capable of and will be determined to go further in the
next season!
For the B Division boys, they started their season well with two wins and
one draw. In the next round of games, the boys started off with a victory
against Dunearn Secondary, with a spectacular late free-kick to seal the
three points. However, despite their best efforts, the B boys did not
manage to get the results they wanted from the other games and thus
did not make it for the knock-out stages. Armed with a more in-depth
understanding of the game and better teamwork, the boys will be back
next season raring to do better!
Besides the competitions, the football boys also engaged the community
through outreach programmes with a few primary schools where they
conducted football clinics for younger footballers and gave them a tour
of our school’s football facilities. The programmes were a great success
and the AMKSS footballers are looking to similar sessions in the future.
Furthermore, the boys were also involved in other school activities such as
volunteering as referees for the inter-class football games, Family Day and
clinching the inaugural Inter-CCA trophy for the school Life Run.
