Modern Dance Club strives to nurture and develop versatile performers. Through dance, students are empowered to express their emotions and personal stories through movement and rhythm. Students who undergo the dance training programme will be exposed to four key learning experiences: Presenting, Responding, Appreciating and Creating. Besides showcasing their skills to a variety of audiences, they will also be trained to think critically about artistic works, relate aesthetically, affectively, and cognitively to the dance art form and the contexts of artistic works as well as explore and experiment with the art form.
One of the key highlights for the year was the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation 2023. The Club has attained a Certificate of Distinction for the past 3 SYF Arts Presentations. Since the start of the year, the Club members have been training hard for key performances such as the SYF, the school annual Awards Day and community performances. The Club is delighted to welcome the return of live performances and the dancers relish the chance to perform in front of a live audience since the Covid-19 pandemic halted such performances. The performances this year are centred around the theme of strength, unity, and growth to reflect the Club’s journey and progress.
The Club looks forward to more learning and performance opportunities. In dance, we believe that everyone should strive to shatter their own glass ceilings and progress in their own ways. The dancers will trust the wait, embrace the uncertainty, enjoy the beauty of becoming. Where nothing is certain, anything is possible.
We leave you with a dance philosophy that we strongly believe in:
