Motto: “Teamwork and Trust: Dominating the court, one pass at a time”.
Embarking on my secondary school journey, netball was a complete
enigma to me, a sport I had never imagined playing. Stepping into it was
like boarding a ship without a map, the seas were unpredictable and at
first I struggled to find my place. I had never been a natural team player
but through training sessions, matches and shared experiences, netball
gradually instilled in me the values of unity, trust and collaboration.
Being part of a team is not about standing out individually but about
lifting one another, communicating openly and working together
toward a collective goal.
This year brought significant achievements for our school teams. The
B Division girls demonstrated tremendous tenacity and secured a
position in the Top 8 of the South Zone National School Games. While
we did not reach our highest aspirations, we left the court without
regrets, proud of our relentless determination displayed until the final
whistle. Beyond medals and rankings, what truly mattered was the
indomitable spirit and perseverance evident in every match. Similarly,
the C Division girls showed remarkable resilience, achieving fourth
position in League 2 after months of dedicated effort and unwavering
commitment, reflecting our team’s core strength and discipline.
Our most meaningful experiences often emerged from team-building
activities through camps, inter-league competitions and friendly games
with other schools. These activities significantly enhanced cohesion,
communication, trust, and mutual understanding among different
levels, strengthening our camaraderie and building confidence to
support each other both on and off the court. We also attended the
sports injury workshop at ITE which provided valuable insights on how
we could better protect our bodies while training.
Beyond regular training, we engaged extensively in Values-In-Action
activities. One of the highlights is coaching young netball players at
Mayflower Primary School. These experiences revealed that netball
extends far beyond competition—it’s about giving back, supporting
others, and inspiring enthusiasm for the sport. Coaching younger
players proved particularly enriching, developing our leadership skills
while teaching us patience, empathy, and responsibility as we guided
and inspired the next generation.
None of this would have been possible without our dedicated coach
and teachers, whose steadfast guidance and encouragement pushed
us beyond our limits. They nurtured not only our athletic skills but
also our personal growth, and we remain profoundly grateful for
their unwavering dedication. Looking ahead, our team builds upon
these experiences, continuing to inspire one another whilst living by
our motto: “Teamwork and Trust, dominating the court, one pass at a
time.”
